You can definitely use the raspberry pi to collect data. However, the Pi is more power-hungry than the Particle. Where you are geographically located will determine the power requirements for this to work (lots of cloudy days will require a bigger battery), but at a minimum, you’ll need a 20W solar panel.

Like blund said, we suggest stepping up the power requirements using a 20W panel, 12v battery, and buck converter to 5v for the raspberry pi
